Prove It
For the battle Satan is warring against us in our quest for good health, Romans 12:2 can be one powerful sword. Remember the sword is the word of God. This verse tells us that God's way is superior to the world's way, not only superior but perfect, and calls on us as Christians to prove it.
"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2 (NIV)
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." Romans 12:2 (King James)
This makes me want to prove it to everyone around me - that taking care of our bodies as God wants us to will result in blessings that far exceed the joy of eating chocolate and donuts. We are also told HOW to do this - by the renewing of our minds. Isn't that amazing? Our minds are warped by the world's way and all the messages the world sends us, but we can renew them. We can change our thinking and our motives by listening to God's voice instead of the world's voice.
As we head into a new month, I can't wait to prove it. And when I'm in the battle zone of friends and family surrounding me, everyone indulging in ice cream, I'll pull this Bible verse from my memory, and use it as as a sword.
